How did you get into baking?

Baking has always been a hobby of mine, since I was a young child. After school, I began taking a bigger interest in it. I started Chasing Delicious to give me something to do in my spare time. I also took the opportunity to teach myself new skills. A few years later, I found myself working in a pastry shop in Houston, learning from an award-winning pastry chef.

What do you love most about the baking process?

I love the meticulous nature of baking. It requires precise measurements, focus, and practice.

What inspired you to start a blog?

I wanted to share what I learned with others, and inspire them to take on their own baking challenges.

What recipe are you most proud of?

I really enjoyed coming up with my Fruity Pebbles Cake. I wanted to experiment with milling cereals into flours to be used as a portion of the flour in the recipe. From there I found a berry that mimicked fruity pebble’s flavor, and then threw it all under a classic vanilla buttercream. I have it up on Chasing Delicious. Check it out:

Do you have a favorite ingredient that you like to use?

I am quite obsessed with vanilla. It gets a rap for being a simple ingredient, but it is wonderfully complex.

Do you have any advice for someone who is thinking about starting a blog?

I would suggest finding a passion, something they truly love, a part of the kitchen they feel most comfortable in, and run with it. The food blogging community is fantastically welcoming and supportive. We always welcome new bloggers.

What type of gear/tools do you use for creating your blog posts?

I use a range of tools for blog posts, but at it’s most simple I pull out my phone and shoot in my kitchen.
