How did you get into baking?
Hollie: From when I was little, I baked scones and victoria sponges with my nan and taught myself from there on.
Jess: I always loved helping out in the kitchen and just picked up baking knowledge here and there!
What do you love most about the baking process?
Challenging ourselves! We love trying out new recipes and seeing how things turn out, there’s always new things to learn with baking.
What inspired you to start a blog?
We used to talk avidly about opening a cafe, but as we weren’t ready for that we figured writing a blog was a good way to start!
What recipe are you most proud of?
Hollie: Creme Egg Millionaires Shortbread, because they turned out bomb-tastic.
Jess: Kinder Bueno Cupcakes! They were the first complete and utter success of the blog, we were so proud of ourselves that day.
Do you have a favorite ingredient that you like to use?
SALTED CARAMEL… easy! …and bacon and goats cheese and pistachios. We have quite a lot of favourites!
What’s an ingredient that you’ve never used, but would like to try?
For ages we’ve been checking out the amazing matcha recipes all over the internet but haven’t got round to trying it out ourselves. Definitely a must for the future, so watch this space!
Are there any lesser known brands or products that you enjoy using?
We have a local farm shop which we love called Bradshaws. It’s amazing for seasonal fruit and veg or picking your own berries in the summer!
Do you have any advice for someone who is thinking about starting a blog?
Just keep writing! We never expected the blog to become such a big part of our lives, but the more posts we wrote the more important it became and now we can’t imagine life without it.
What type of gear/tools do you use for creating your blog posts?
A Canon 550d and Adobe Lightroom, they’re our saviours!
